Winter Diseases:
Cold, viral fever, tonsillitis, respiratory asthma, cracking of hands and feet, mouth and tongue sores, scabies, and other skin diseases are more common. Asthma, bronchitis, and chronic cough cause complications in adults, while colds, viral fever, pneumonia, and tonsillitis are more common in children. The main reason for the severity of this winter cold is not the cold outside but the crowding inside the house and the possibility of infection. Winter diseases are caused by dust on the roads, polluted air, and living in an unclean environment.
Cold and viral fever:
Rhinovirus is responsible. Fever, headache, feeling of heaviness in the chest, severe sneezing, continuous runny nose, and a hacking cough occur. In high temperatures, the head should be washed, and the body should be sponged. Ginger tea, basil leaf juice, lemon, and honey work very well for children.
Tonsillitis, respiratory tract infections:
Old problems may recur or appear in a new way. On the advice of a doctor, antibiotics, painkillers for pain relief, and antihistamines for allergies should be taken, along with gargling with a salt solution mixed with lukewarm water. At this time, the throat should be kept warm by wrapping a warm cloth around it.
Pneumonia:
It occurs in children aged 0-5 years. Difficulty breathing, wheezing, chest tightness, cough and mild fever may occur. On the advice of a doctor, antibiotics should be administered according to age and weight, along with bronchodilators (such as salbutamol or theophylline), one spoonful three times a day to relieve breathing difficulties.
One spoonful twice a day for allergies, and paracetamol syrup should be given three times a day if the fever exceeds 100 degrees.
Lesions on the tongue and the corners of the mouth:
If there is a lack of vitamin B2 and iron in the diet, sores appear on the corners of the lips. For this, tablets, riboflavin, multivitamin tablets, and drops are used.
Cracked hands and feet:
Avoid exposure to excessive dust. Using pure Vaseline and glycerin is very effective.
Scabies:
Children, older adults, individuals living in slum areas, densely populated areas, and those exposed to low-level unclean environments can contract this disease. All rashes on the body should be removed by rubbing with soap. Dry the body and apply 20% Benzene Benzoate Emulsion or 0.5% Permethrin (Lorix, Lotrix, Sunbex) all over the body from the base of the neck. Benzene Benzoate should be applied for three consecutive days. Permethrin should be applied for one day, and the area should be bathed thoroughly afterwards. Wash used clothes and bedding with soap and boil.
Care should be taken to boost the body's immunity, allowing it to protect itself from common diseases. The immune system is a vast work area of the body, comprising approximately one million white blood cells. A balanced diet, regular exercise, and reducing mental stress can all help increase the body's immune system. Therefore, if we live our lives taking care of all aspects, we can eliminate many minor illnesses.
